C Salt Gourmet Market

It’s Friday.  T.G.I.F.!!  Amber and Sam thought it was a good idea to end the busy week at Cape Chiropractic and Acupuncture with some avocado toast (seen above) made and devoured at C Salt Gourmet Market in Cape Elizabeth on the outdoor patio.  We opted for the gluten free bread which is local from Alergeena.  The avocado is drizzled with olive oil and topped with sea salt and pepper.  What is not to love?  PLUS Alex is super friendly and helpful- a superb hire on C Salt’s end!

Avocados offer countless health benefits.  In Eastern Dietary therapy, avocados are cooling (perfect for a hot summer day), tend to nourish yin and blood, nourishes liver yin and moistens the lungs and intestines.  Nourishing yin and blood is necessary for anyone suffering from hot flashes but also an excellent tonic for nursing mothers.

Moistening the lungs is necessary for anyone suffering from a dry cough or anyone dealing with dry skin.  The avocado and the olive oil drizzled on top is a perfect combination for loving your skin.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the health of the skin is a direct reflection of the strength of the lungs.  We’ve all seen avocado oil as an ingredient in many beauty products, so why not go to the source and get the same benefits by EATING IT?  It tastes way better that way- plus the added benefit of moistening the intestines.  This is a great remedy for anyone experiencing constipation.

Salt and pepper is often only thought to be used as a flavor enhancement, but actually has medicinal benefits as well.  The sea salt in this snack primarily harmonizes and promotes digestion.  It is also used to strengthen the kidneys which are reflected in the strength of the bones and teeth.  But remember only small amounts.  Everything in moderation!  The pepper is hot and pungent which warms digestion and balances out the other cold ingredients in this nutritious snack.

Stop in and check out this phenomenal gourmet market, you’ll never know the treasures you will discover!
